On-Going Activities
 Riding Lessons at Windrush Hill Farm. Winter Schedule! Ann Bennett offers riding lessons for beginners and experienced riders.  Winter lessons are on Saturdays. Youth group lesson 1pm to 2pm, be here to groom and saddle at 12:30pm; Adult group lesson  2:30 to 3:30pm, be here to groom and saddle at 2pm: Group lessons on a school horse are $35 each. Group lessons on your own horse are $20 each.  Private 30 minute lesson is $30 on your own horse, $35 on a school horse. Email windrushhill@farmtel.net or call Ann at 319-986-2199 to schedule a lesson either with a group, or privately.  Free to audit. Private Dressage Lessons with Genelle Royer at Pat Pollpeter's Arena near Donnellson are cancelled for the winter. Lessons will resume in mid-March. Lessons for GRCHA members are $30 each; for non-members, $35 each. Auditors free. Contact Genelle in advance at 217-453-2409 or geneller@frontiernet.net

Riding Lessons in Fairfield. Ann Bennett is teaching lessons in Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon/evening. For an appointment,  email windrushhill@farmtel.net or call 319-986-2199. There is a $5 trip charge added to each lesson, so $25 for semi-private one hour lesson, $35 for private 30 minute lesson.  

Riding Lessons at Flying Change Stables, 1925 295th Ave., Ft. Madison, IA. Ali Glenn teaches riding by appointment any day of the week between 9 AM and 7 PM. Lessons are $30 per hour for private lessons; $15 for 30 minutes. For use of a schooling horse there is an additional $15 charge. She has one lesson pony and two lesson horses that can all jump. Group jumping lessons for three riders can be arranged at $15 each. Contact Ali at oopers2@hotmail.com

Yoga for Equestrians with Jewel Marie McDonald, at Morningstar Studio, upstairs, on the square in Fairfield. Series began March 2 and will go for eight weeks. Every Tuesday evening at 5:15 pm until about 7:00pm. Cost for 8 weeks--$100. Talk to Jewel about rates for attending part of the series. Lora, Ann, Judy, and Martha attended the first session. Mar. 27 All Day “Get Ready to Ride” Clinic at Windrush Hill Farm. For horses ridden last year. Bring a rope halter with 12 foot lead, a flag of some sort, your tack, and appropriate riding clothes including boots and safety helmet.  Fee: $90. April 3, 10, and 17 Men's Night Out at Windrush Hill Farm. 5-7 PM. $25 per night. Includes groundwork, despooking, teaching horse to work off the halter rope, halt , back, side pass, turn on the haunches, and turn on the forehand. Includes work over obstacles, mounted sessions on use of voice, eyes, hands, legs, seat and positon. All level riders. Safety helmet required when mounted. Contact Ann at windrushhill@farmtel.net
April 10 GRCHA ENGLISH SADDLE FITTING CLINC at Windrush Hill Farm with Carrie Rowe, County Saddle fitter. Kathy Reed is arranging this for us. Carrie can check the fit of your dressage saddle and reflock them if needed or help you measure for a new saddle. More info in next newsletter. She has been riding, training and instructing for many years and is great for all riders hoping to improve their horses. Cindy has coached many young riders in our area who have successfully competed in international level competitions. $65.00/hour private lesson. $33/hour semi-private. July 31 All Day Develop Relaxation, Balance, Self Carriage and Collection Clinic at Windrush Hill Farm. $90. This class teaches Classical Horsemanship that is appropriate for dressage riders or vaquero style riders.   This class is intended for intermediate level riders who feel confident to walk, trot and canter on their horse.  Not for beginning riders or green horses.
